By: Simić, Andrei.

Abstract
This is a study of rural-urban mobility not only as an act of spatial relocation, but also as a continuing process of social and cultural adjustment after settlement in the city of Belgrade. Simic follows the Serbian migrant through the various stages of the transformation from peasant to urbanite, considering in the process the nature and variety of stimuli for migration, physical and economic adaptation to city life, the role of traditional values and ideology as reflected in rural-urban reciprocity, the creation of urban social networks, and the manner in which individuals perceive the urbanization experience and their new environment (p. 5)
