Abstract
This work is a history of the Serbs and other South Slavic peoples from the sixth to the mid-twentieth centuries (ca. 1941). The document is divided into two major parts. Part 1 discusses the political and socioeconomic development of Serbia before 1914, while part 2 deals with the south Slavs (including Serbs) and their role in World War I. This latter section also describes the establishment of the state of Yugoslavia in 1918 and the virtual collapse of its old regime in 1941. The present study serves as an excellent historical background to other works in the Serbs file. Most of the historical background information on Serbia has been indexed for category 170, in the file.
