Abstract
This article is a condensed cultural summary of the Nentsy (Nenets) based mainly on pre-revolutionary data by G. D. Verbov and G. N. Prokofyev. The Nentsy form the largest group among the Samoyedic-speaking reindeer-breeding peoples of Siberia. The summary, despite its brevity, manages to touch on almost every aspect of the Nentsy culture, specially the material part. Also included is a section dealing with the territorial reorganization and general culture change brought about by the Bolshevik revolution. Most of the data is forced into a Soviet Marxist economic evolutionary scheme of interpretation.
