Abstract
This study finds only modest changes in Tobelo communal rituals following conversion to Christianity. Core rituals related to marriage and deceased ancestors continued to be observed within major church-based collective prayers and periodic festivals. This continuity suggests that the Christian church has been integrated into to the Tobelo people’s vernacular conceptualization of society.
