The government, economic organization, and taxes of the
Central Javanese village of Djabres are the subjects of this study. In the course of the
study, information on the tile industry of Djabres is presented, along with estimates of
untapped taxable capacities of the industry. This work is part of the Village Study Project
of the Institute for Economic and Social Research, Djakarta School of Economics, University
of Indonesia.
