By: Loeb, Edwin Meyer.

Abstract
After a very brief introduction to several aspects of Mentaweian ethnography, Loeb presents a series of Pageh (Pagai) mythological tales collected in large part by the German missionary Herr Börges and supplemented in the field by the author. These tales were used by Loeb as a form of text book in acquiring a reading knowledge of the Pageh dialect. The tales are presented first in native text followed by the English translation. The author visited the Mentawei Islands for five months beginning in the Spring of 1926.
