Abstract
This source is a comprehensive account of the life of the urban and rural Iban of the Sibu District, Sarawak. The emphasis is on how the urban trading center, Sibu, has changed their values and lifestyles. Historical materials relate the Iban movements into the area, their relations with the Brooke rajahs, as well as with the Chinese and Malay settlers of the area. The dissertation contains much on the modernization of the Iban.
