Abstract
Only the grammatical synopsis and the appendix are included here. The latter includes translations of Iban proverbs, riddles, songs, invocations and prayers, fables, and examples of conversational and explanatory styles; and Iban vocabulary for the bodily parts, ornaments and costumes, trees, houses, boats, measurements, money, fines, and human ailments. The central section of the work is a lexicon with generally brief explanations of the terms included. However, from time to time, a certain term is given an extended explanation, e.g. the terms for gods and festivals, containing ethnographic data. Since this material is also contained in other works included the Iban file, the dictionary section was not processed. The entire work was published in sections between 1900 and 1903. The authors were Protestant missionaries with long experience in the Iban area.
