Abstract
This socio-economic survey examines land problems, especially of the paddy land of Pata Dumbara valley, with the objective of showing the disintegration of the rural society in the Kandyan area. It deals basically with distribution of land ownership, cost-output structure of paddy cultivation and problems of fragmentation of land. The population rise and stagnant and exploitive ecomomy are implied as factors for the disintegration.
