Abstract
This volume contains a good deal of useful ethnographic information relative to the Toda village, the family, diet, religion, dairying and dairymen priests, funeral and marriage customs, infanticide and polyandry. Statistical demographic data are also supplied. Statements of phrenological theory and inferences about Toda character traits based on these principles have not been indexed for subjects. The Reverend G. U. Pope was the author of the final chapter of this volume: A Brief Outline of the Grammar of the Tuda Language (pp. 239-269).
