Abstract
This article analyzes the meanings and structural principles underlying Dravidian kinship terminologies. Drawing on relationship terms used among the Muduga people, the focus is on spatial variations in aspects of Dravidian kinship terminologies that the author argues were overlooked by earlier analysts, probably due to the manipulation of basic principles to fit marriage choices and caste-based relationships.
