Conflict, emotion and abreaction: resolution of conflict among the Semai Senoi

Ethos7 (2) • Published In 1979 • Pages: 104-123

By: Robarchek, Clayton Allen.

Abstract
Conflict and dispute management among the Semai is accomplished by the BCARAA, a council of village elders led by a headman. The principals involved in a dispute each gather their ego-centered kindred (WARIS) for support. Robarchek describes the procedures of the BCARAA and how it fits into the broader Semai psychology that is adverse to any conflict and fears strong affective arousal.
