Abstract
This paper, Part III of a series on Malay life and customs covers Malay amusements (games, dances, musical plays, gambling, cock fights and other animal combats) both in the past and as they are changing today. In the games now played by children the traces of former customs and beliefs are pointed out. Adult games such as chess are also discussed (the appendix includes a comparison of the Selangor and English rules). The training and care of fighting cocks as well as the actual staging of the fight and its rules are described.
