Abstract
This work is a description of the traditional Annamese methods of rice culture, and of the improvements which it was possible to achieve immediately within the framework of small familial enterprise. It is the result of research which led up to the creation of the 'Office Indochinois du riz', and which was continued by that office. The first part studies the physical and economic factors which conditions rice growing, including irrigation, rotation, livestock and transport; the second is concerned with rice growing in the strict sense; and the concluding part deals with he processing and commerce in rice, and with experimentation in the rice fields.
