Abstract
This article contains a general discussion of the Cambodian bonze and the influence of this institution of the Cambodian people. Included is a description of a bonze's qualifications, entry into the bonze community, the obligatory Ten Commandments of the Buddhist religion, a typical day and some important dates in the monastic calendar. Martini was an Advisor on Rites and Fine Arts (Conseiller aux Cultes et aux Beaux-Arts).
