Abstract
Siiger was a member of The Third Danish Expedition to Central Asia. He based himself in the Sikkim capital of Gangtok and traveled to various Lepcha villages including Git, Tingbung, and Singhik. He stayed for three months in the village of Tingbung near the Lepcha reservation of Jongu and a total of three weeks in Singhik. He also did research in Kalimpong in the Darjeeling District of West Bengal, India. Siinger reviews the ethnographic literature and history of the Lepcha. He presents information on homes, households, marriage, funerals, religious ceremonies and practices. The work includes 58 photographs and verbatim stories, myths, and prayers.
