Abstract
This document is the second part of Chapter 4 of a comprehensive study of polyandry and deals with polyandry in U, Tsang, Kham and other provinces of Tibet, as investigated from Kalimpong, West Bengal, India. After giving general political, social and economic information as a background, a detailed discussion of polyandry is presented. Many genealogies are included, mainly of the aristocratic families of Lhasa and Shigatse. A brief addendum on the 'Effects and Aims of the Chinese Communist Occupation of Tibet' is of interest. Field work was conducted briefly during 1938 and more extensively between 1950 and 1957. Interviewing was done both with and without the aid of interpreters as the author learned the Tibetan language.
