Abstract
The body of this book is a report of the travels and observations of Paul Sherap, a Tibetan residing in Tachienlu (Dartsendo) on the Sino-Tibetan border area, as recorded and edited by Combe. Sherap was educated under both Christian and Lamaist auspices and travelled extensively in Tibet, Sikkim, Nepal, Bhutan, India, and China. In addition to information on various aspects of Tibetan life and thought, there is a chapter devoted to the different nomad tribes of Tibet. The editor, Combe, has added two chapters, on Buddhism and the Devil Dance, to the main body of the book.
