Abstract
This source, whose authors are an American anthropologist and a Japanese psychologist, compares the status and roles of the sexes, within the context of the family, in two communities, one in Aichi Prefecture and the other in Okayama Prefecture. Apart from brief sketches of historical background bearing on customary attitudes in the two locations, the data consist of compared results of Thematic Apperception Tests (TAT) administrated by the authors. The themes developed in this report are: attitudes concerning family-arranged marriages, heterosexual relationships in general, aggression in different roles, and mother-in-law.
