Abstract
The Somali tribes described here are the Ejssa, Gadaburssi, Habr Aual, Bertirri, Girri, Bersub, Babilli, and Ogaden of British Somaliland. Paulitschke is at his best describing the physical environment and material culture of the tribesmen. However, there is also information on social and religious institutions.
