Abstract
This is a remarkable source, revealing the complex and sophisticated religious beliefs of the Zulu. The author, or rather translator, was a missionary doctor among the Zulu from 1854-1868 (see 13:Callaway). The book consists of Zulu texts accompanied by English translation and annotation covering such topics as UNKULUNKULU, or the tradition of creation; the AMATONGO, or ancestor worship; the significance of dreams and visions; and IZINYANGA ZOKUBULA, or diviners.
