Abstract
This very brief article describes in detail one of the favorite and most elaborate hair styles (called 'helmet') worn by the [n]moran[/n] (the Maasai warriors). Mr. Elliott is of the opinion that the preservation of distinctive and complicated coiffures by the Maasai may be one of the ways in which they seek to maintain their ethnic and cultural identity.
