Abstract
This study presents a summary of the ideals and norms which operate in the developmental processes of Gusii domestic groups -- the homestead, the nuclear or polygynous family, and the extended family. The document describes in detail the structure and function of each of these groups as found in the contemporary (1970s) community of Nyansongo in southwestern Kenya.
