By: Bascom, William Russell.

Abstract
In this short article, Bascom comments on a paper by J. D. Clarke (document 18). Bascom says that Clarke fails to understand the significance of the sequences of the Odu figures that he published. He also notes that Clarke over-emphasizes Ibo divination and fails to realize the significance of Ifa verses. Bascom was, at the time of this publication, Professor of Anthropology at the University of California (Berkeley).
