Abstract
This is an ethnography of a local Akan group, the Techiman-Bono, of Central Ghana. According to Meyerowitz the Techiman-Bono kingdom was originally founded in 1295, although other historians date its founding to the first half of the fifteenth century. The Techiman-Bono consider themselves one of the oldest of Akan kingdoms and a major source of Akan culture. Today the region is the center of cocoa production. Warren discusses Techiman-Bono life cycle, government, and religious beliefs.
