Abstract
This article examines Tallensi compounds inquiring whether the architectural design of houses and compounds correlates with kinship relationship among occupants. By comparing the patrilineal descent patterns of occupants with the topological organization of multi-courtyard compounds, the article shows that proximity in kinship space is reflected in proximate living arrangements.
