Abstract: Brief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document This article examines the role of the household in mobilizing farm labor. Based on the work patterns and farm management practices of several household members in a Bambara village, the author argues that the production interests of each individual are directly related with his/her social status in the household.
