Ethnos70 (1) • Published In 2005 • Pages: 53-78

By: Beatty, Andrew.

Abstract
This article discusses the place of emotion in Javanese society. It argues for an expanded understanding of social sentiments that would recognize a structuring role for emotion beyond the family and the shaping, through emotional practices, of a fluid but crucial level of 'community'.
