By: Mühlich, Michael.

Abstract
In this paper, Mühlich examines the association of women with water spirits (LU) in Sherpa myths and legends. According to Mühlich, water spirits invoke a less bounded, more fluid, and more equitable social relations typical of a pastoral society the Sherpa once were. Evidence of this is found in the institution of DURSHI, in which women have rights to property realized at the time of their marriage.
