Abstract: Brief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This source describes major kinds of social relationships
in Tamansari, a village in the vicinity of Modjokuto. Tamansari is an abangan community,
hence the data do not necessarily apply to santri. The author describes the life cycle, the
nuclear family, marriage and affinal kinship, extended kinsmen, the neighborhood and
neighborship, social rank, village government, units of local government, and private
associations. This is a good source with a great deal of useful information.
