Abstract
The author, for many years anthropology curator of the Milwaukee Public Museum, did much work in North American archaeology and ethnology, as well as some work in East Africa. The material in the present work was gathered by him on an expedition for the Heye Foundation. The work is primarily a descriptive study of the Cayapa, and contains very detailed material on the economic life and material culture of the people. Descriptions are given of the ceremonial life and beliefs of the Cayapa, as well as sections devoted to kinship, government, etc. The very few bibliographical references will be found in the footnotes.
