Abstract
This is the eighth of a series prepared in India, by and for the British government, in connection with World War II dislocations in Burma. This number concerns itself with the Karen ethnic groups ('tribe') of Burma; their culture, their relations with the Burmese and the British, their acculturation and their conversion, in part, to Christianity. The author was for some time a missionary amongst these people and has written a long monograph on them, generally held to be a definitive work.
