Drawing on an interpretive understanding of symbolic meanings conveyed in different pot sizes and artistic markers, strong links are found between the pots and the social standing of the owners of the houses. Ranks commonly communicated through the pots relate to seniority in local lineage groups and age grades, authority in cult groups, success in hunting big game, and courage demonstrated in particular battles. %K Konso (African people) %K Konso %K Dwellings %K Outbuildings %K Ceramic technology %K Building interiors and arrangement %K Settlement patterns %K Community structure %K Community heads %K Status, role, and prestige %K Inter-ethnic relations %K Buying and selling %K Hunting and trapping %K Aftermath of combat %K Community councils %K Priesthood %U https://ehrafworldcultures.yale.edu/document?id=mp17-006 %P 57-73 %[ 2022-06-26
