For Plunkett, the purpose of the co-operative movement was to encourage self-help and joint enterprise, affecting both economic and social life. The author examines in particular the relationship between social classes, the role of women in the movement, and the relationship between the co-operative movement and the state. %K Ireland %K Rural conditions %K Rural Irish %K Eireanneach %K Economic planning and development %K Cultural goals %K Labor supply and employment %K Cooperative organization %K Political parties %K Political movements %U https://ehrafworldcultures.yale.edu/document?id=er06-035 %P 45-57 %[ 2022-06-27
