The survey included situational questions that presented a dilemma pitting the desires, interests and wishes of young adults against their parents (self-interest versus filial duty). Views regarding filial ties and migration differed according to residence (rural or urban) and socioeconomic status. The author also considered the variables of age, marital status, length of residence, and family residence pattern.
