Depopulation of the region due to the famine opened up land for ranching, which replaced farming as the primary economic activity. In the 1900s, an anti-grazing movement that tried to restore the traditional farming economy met with little success. A chapter is devoted to the successful business of one rancher, representing this new entrepreneurial class. %K Land tenure %K Ireland %K Dunshaughlin %K History %K Dunshaughlin (Ireland) %K Rural Irish %K Eireanneach %K Population %K Domesticated animals %K Real property %K Income and demand %K Price and value %K Labor supply and employment %K Wages and salaries %K Individual enterprise %K Household %K Towns %9 bibliographic %U https://ehrafworldcultures.yale.edu/document?id=er06-019 %P 72 %[ 2022-06-28
