Detail is given for the farm economy, marriage and family patterns, kinship structure, property and inheritance system, housing and settlement patterns, social stratification, labor exchange and employment, interpersonal relationships, public opinion and attitudes, and the nature of social and economic ties with areas outside of the farm community. It is demonstrated that the persistent decline in rural population is not due to poverty but to traditional social patterns centering on the family. %K Ethnology %K Ireland %K Clare %K Families %K Community life %K Social psychology %K Clare (Ireland) %K Social life and customs %K 20th century %K Ennis (Ireland) %K Rural Irish %K Eireanneach %K Family relationships %K Occupational specialization %K Social relationships and groups %K Tillage %K Status and treatment of the aged %K Kin relationships %K Kindreds and ramages %K Retail marketing %K Division of labor by gender %9 bibliographic %U https://ehrafworldcultures.yale.edu/document?id=er06-001 %[ 2022-06-28
