R. Leach's book Political Systems of Highland Burma to Kachin studies. It shows that the book had serious weaknesses and misunderstandings which Kachin scholars tried to correct through publications over the years. The most important of these weaknesses include Leach's conception of the Kachin as passive subjects of history, and inadequate translation of key political terms mostly because of lack of empirical data on the local context and varied meanings people used them.}, note = {Maran La Raw}, note = {Author Name updated per LOC Authorities 10/06/2011; obtained via Borrow Direct - {\#} YAL-10094730; LOC search performed 2/15/11; pages: 38; ready for analysis2/15/11;}, note = {For bibliographical references see document 34:Robinne and Sadan}, isbn = {9789004160347}, url = {https://ehrafworldcultures.yale.edu/document?id=ap06-035}, language = {English} note = {Accessed on: 2022-06-26} }
