It was first read at the meetings of the Far Eastern Association, New York, April, 1954. In order, there are presented data on the geographical setting, settlement pattern, house types and land use, agricultural crops, techniques, cycles, and rituals, the productivity of agriculture, the place of agriculture, jungle products, hunting and fishing in the economy and the state of the whole economy, the place of money and trade in the economy. There are incidental data on diet, clothing, the use of alcohol and opium. The author maintains that this is a poor economy, owing to inefficient land use. The author was on the faculty of the Department of Geography, Dartmouth College. UR - https://ehrafworldcultures.yale.edu/document?id=ap06-028 LA - English N1 - Robert E.
