Basic Search is a good place to begin searching eHRAF by freely entering one or more keywords of your choice. You can find the Basic Search tab on the navigation bar at the top of the eHRAF interface.
Simply begin by typing a word or phrase into the search box. Your entry will be automatically matched to eHRAF's culture and subject categories to retrieve precise information from the paragraphs of the documents. For example, if you enter a culture name, the search will attempt to match it against the Outline of World Cultures (OWC) terms included in the database. Likewise, keywords will be matched against the subject indexing system based on the Outline of Material Cultures (OCM).
Basic search tries to "do the work for you". If you prefer to select from lists of cultures (OWC) and subjects (OCM) and/or add and exclude keywords to customize your query, try Advanced Search.
