Abstract
This document deals with religion, shamanism and magic among the Guajiro. Included in the account is information on ceremonies and rituals, charms, magico-medical practices, divination, beliefs about rain, and the initiation and training of shamans. Some material is also offered on beliefs about the spirits of the dead particularly in relation to sickness, and funerals. There is also material concerning Goajiro divinities, regulation of sexual behavior, feuds and sanctions for violation of legal norms, and beliefs about conception and factors influencing embryonic development. The author is an ethnologist who did field work among the Goajiro.
