Abstract
This source presents a succinct account of the beliefs and practices surrounding fertility, adoption, pregnancy and childbirth in Chuuk. Additional related information is also given on the desire for children, illegitimacy, abortion, infanticide, menstruation and general sex restrictions observed at various stages in the reproductive process. Fischer lived with a Chuukese family on Romonum for three months in 1949, moved to Moen for an eight month's stay and later went to Fefen in 1953 for an additional two weeks' field work.
