Abstract
The focus of this paper is the mortuary observances at Kaduwaga village on Kaileuna Island. In connection with these mortuary events Montague explores three issues that are generated from the Kaduwagan view of cosmic process, and are part of these observances. These issues are: (1) the departure of the soul (or 'mind' as Montague prefers to call it) from the world of the living; (2) the physical aspects of holding a Kaduwagan funeral and (3) the manner in which mortuary procedures incorporate village level concerns. Each of these issues is described in some detail in this source.
