Crime and custom in savage society

Abstract
In this book Malinowski argues that primitive law depends on practical considerations of reciprocity for its enforcement rather than on tradition or group pressure. Malinowski points out that even the most rigidly proscribed actions (incest, endogamy, etc.) have well established devices for circumvention that are accepted by the group as being part of the established order.
