By: Pospisil, Leopold J..

Abstract
This article is a pure description of the kinship system of the Kapauku, including a detailed list of kinship terminology. The discussion includes marriage patterns, intestate inheritance, incest taboos, bride price, and liability regarding blood vengeance and payments. Pospisil makes the distinction between two major categories of kin based on male paternal relatives--except for cross-cousins--and all other consanguinal and affinal relations.
