Aranda traditions

Abstract
This document is a compilation of three papers that Strehlow wrote in 1934 but did not publish until 1947 because he had taken a pledge of secrecy during the lifetimes of his informants. Strehlow examined the major types of myths, the variations in these myths and their ceremonial enactment in three parts of the Aranda, and the way in which these myths and the TJURUNGA (ceremonial objects that represent the eternal part of the ancestors) with which they are associated are acquired and treated by each succeeding generation.
