Abstract
Mescalero beliefs and practices surrounding death are the subjects of this article. The article includes descriptions of funeral and mourning practices, a summary of Mescalero beliefs about ghosts, the afterworld, and ghost sickness, and a discussion of the treatment and remarriage of widows and widowers.
