Abstract
This study, based on Mormon genealogical records, includes three investigations of the frequency of consanguineous and, in particular, first cousin marriage in Mormon and United States society. The first investigation concerns only Utah, from 1847-1950. The second is based on a door-to-door survey of nine rural communities in Utah and Nevada, mostly although not exclusively Mormon. The third looks at Mormons and their relatives in ten geographical regions of the United States for various periods between 1620 and 1950.
