Abstract
The purpose of this study is to present an objective analysis of Mormon recreation based on interviews, correspondence with Church officials, and archival research. The author traces the history of recreation as sponsored by the Church from the days of Joseph Smith to the highly centralized recreation programs of the Church in the 1940s.
