Myths and tales of the White Mountain Apache
The American Folk-lore Society, J.J. Augustin, Agent • XXXIII • Published In 1939 • Pages: xviii, 223
By: Goodwin, Grenville.
Abstract
This is a 'fairly complete' (p.v) collection of White Mountain Apache myths and tales. Goodwin prefaces the collection with an analytic discussion that makes no distinction between mythology and folklore. This presentation concentrates on the latent ethnographic content of the myths and tales. Accordingly, the manifest literary and aesthetic elements have not only been ignored, they have been removed.
